I’ve discovered a new hobby as a green thumb that combines my love for nature with my smartphone, and it’s been a game-changer. I’ve been using my phone to identify the plants in my garden, and it’s like having a botanist in my pocket and it is not so heavy!
Every morning, with a cup of coffee in one hand and my phone in the other, I step into my garden no matter rain, hail or shine. It’s my little sanctuary, filled with a variety of plants, some of which even I didn’t know the names of. But not anymore! With my phone, I’ve embarked on a journey of discovery, learning the names of all my leafy companions.
I can even use it in parks, walks, my garden, and just anywhere I find a plant I just do not know and the number of plants is huge, especially the variations.
The process is simple and fun. I just snap a photo of a plant, and voila! My app tells me what it is. It’s like magic! It is an awesome addition to any Green Thumbs tool kit.
I’ve identified the rosy periwinkle that adds a pop of color to my garden, the weeping fig that provides shade on sunny days, and the snake plant that keeps the air in my home clean. And that’s just the beginning!
But my plant identification adventures aren’t limited to my garden. I take my phone on walks, hikes, and even to the grocery store. You’d be surprised how many plants you can identify in the produce aisle!
This new hobby has not only taught me about the plants around me but also made me appreciate the beauty of nature more. Every leaf, every flower, and every tree has a story to tell, and now I have the tool to listen.
